As Land Rover prepares its first all-electric models, it introduces a new and potentially significant subbrand to its lineup: Octa. With a name inspired by diamonds, Octa treatment is applied first to the Defender and increases that SUV’s ability to sling dirt and tear up pavement. It’s the 2025 Land Rover SUV model we’re most excited for, but the British automaker applies other changes to its lineup this year, too. Read on to see everything new on Land Rover’s luxurious and off-road-ready SUVs.
2025 Land Rover Discovery Sport: What’s New
The smallest Land Rover SUV receives new packages and reshuffled features for 2025. Silicon Silver exterior paint is discontinued, and black-painted brake calipers become available in place of red calipers. Rather than being available as stand-alone options, interior ambient lighting, two-zone automatic climate control, and enhanced air filtration are now bundled together within the Comfort package. In the 2025 Discovery Sport, a new For Dogs package adds a padded cargo area liner, portable shower, integrated water bowl, and collapsible pet carrier. Cyclists can choose the Biking Adventures package, which adds a rooftop bike carrier, fixed side steps, mudflaps, and rubber floor and cargo area liners.

However, Land Rover will also offer the Defender Octa with big wheels and all-season tires for improved roadgoing performance.
Elsewhere in the 2025 Defender lineup, the long 130 model can now be had with second-row captain’s chairs, matte paint protection film becomes available, and updates are made to the available options packages.

2025 Land Rover Electric: What to Expect
Land Rover has made no secret that it’s working on all-electric models, and those efforts will likely manifest with the arrival of a Range Rover EV. Likely to debut for 2026 or 2027, the Range Rover Electric should have similar design and features as the combustion-powered version, just with batteries and motors instead of an engine. Other Land Rover EVs will potentially follow, including a Velar EV for 2027 or 2028. With these models, Land Rover acknowledges the potential of electric vehicles to improve on-road luxury and off-road performance.
