“He is one of my favourite enÂterÂtainÂers of all time,â MayÂboÂdi said. âSo, when he agreed to partÂner with us to give back to the fans and to the wider comÂmuÂniÂty, it was a no-brainÂer. Ms OrÂnelÂla orÂganÂised everyÂthing and coÂorÂdiÂnatÂed the day perÂfectÂly.”
Help Me Help You FounÂdaÂtion DiÂrecÂtor, OrÂnelÂla Luces deÂscribed the event as “a reÂsoundÂing sucÂcess” and called on othÂer artistes and corÂpoÂrate partÂners to do more for their comÂmuÂniÂties.

“It made us so hapÂpy to help so many peoÂple toÂday and to see the smiles on the chilÂdren’s faces while alÂso givÂing some hope to their parÂents,â Luces told Guardian MeÂdia. âWe will defÂiÂniteÂly want to do it again next year and hopeÂfulÂly for many more years to come, so we hope that othÂer artistes will supÂport, and othÂer corÂpoÂrate enÂtiÂties will jump on board to asÂsist as well.
She added: âWe all know how hard the times are and how chalÂlenged most peoÂple and esÂpeÂcialÂly parÂents are to make ends meet, so we want to enÂcourÂage and help faÂcilÂiÂtate those who are doÂing well to help those who are not and reÂalÂly make a difÂferÂence.”
AmerÂiÂcan Stores emÂployÂee, Michael Lemaitre tradÂed his work uniÂform for a SanÂta Clause suit and preÂsentÂed toys and clothes to the chilÂdren, as their parÂents lined up and waitÂed for apÂpliÂances such as ketÂtles, toastÂers, blenders and a few stoves and fridges.

Luces esÂtiÂmatÂed that just unÂder two hunÂdred perÂsons came to the store where over $100,000 worth of merÂchanÂdise was disÂtribÂuted, inÂcludÂing a bed and some cash for a mothÂer whose house was reÂcentÂly deÂstroyed in a fire.
“She was not on our list, but she came earÂly and brought all her docÂuÂments to show us what hapÂpened,” Luces reÂportÂed, “but she was cryÂing alÂso from telling and re-livÂing the exÂpeÂriÂence and didnât want to be on camÂera or in phoÂtos.â
âNext year, we’re gonna have to make it bigÂger and betÂter with more stuff for the chilÂdren,â she said, ââcause plenÂty chilÂdren came and got bored waitÂing, so we need to get snacks and enÂterÂtainÂment for them.”
